Participation in the Expo Exhibition and Conference for People of Determination in the Emirate of Dubai

The Omani Paralympic Committee participated in the Expo and Conference for Persons with Disabilities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during the period from 5-7 November 2019, based on the importance of identifying global developments in the field of caring for people with disabilities, and introducing the Sultanate’s efforts in the field of caring for this category. The Committee represented Akram Bin Saif Al-Maawali, Vice Chairman of the Committee, and Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Hinai, Secretary of the Committee.

The Committee is participating for the third time in this international event to be informed of the most important developments in research and innovations that benefit people with disabilities. Participation in this event is an opportunity to establish partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers of sports equipment that you constantly need in the Omani Paralympic Committee.

The Oman Paralympic Committee also held an exhibition that embodied the efforts of the Ministry of Sports Affairs and the Oman Paralympic Committee on the interest in sports for people with disabilities in the Sultanate and its role in providing development activities and programs and internal and external participation, in addition to introducing the Sultanate and promoting tourism for its tourism and environmental potentials through the promotional documents of the Ministry of Tourism.

Highlighting the role of groups of people with disabilities in sustainable development and the integrative role between individuals with disabilities and others, presenting the committee’s achievements at the Gulf, Arab and international levels, and holding side meetings with a number of officials of international associations and CEOs of companies and developers with the aim of creating a solid base of cooperation with them. During which to exchange experiences and ideas in an effort to advance the sport of people with disabilities in the Sultanate.

The Omani Paralympic Committee participated in the 14th Gulf Forum for the Blind. Under the slogan “Autumn Forum for the Blind” held in the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, which was organized by the branch of the Al Noor Association for the Blind in the Governorate of Dhofar during the period from 20 to 25 July 2019 AD..

And 66 blind men and women representing all branches of the Al Noor Association for the Blind in the Sultanate participated in the forum, in addition to the participation of the Friendship Association for the Blind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Charitable Society for the Blind in Riyadh, the Association for Persons with Disabilities in Al Ahsa in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind in the State of Qatar and the Association of the Blind in the State of Kuwait.

The committee was represented by Dr. Mansour bin Sultan Al-Touqi, head of the Oman Paralympic Committee, by presenting the Sultanate’s experience in establishing football for the blind.

The forum aimed to strengthen relations between the members of the Gulf societies participating in the forum and provide an opportunity for the blind to highlight their talents, creativity and personal experiences in challenging the disability.

The Gulf Forum for the Blind included lectures and workshops bearing several titles, including the art of etiquette and self-skills, in addition to the objectives and axes of the Oman 2040 vision, self-employment, organizing poetic and cultural evenings, recreational and artistic competitions and sports events, in addition to visits to the most important tourist and recreational attractions in the Governorate of Dhofar and participating in interactive sessions with the Scout camp For the boys stage in the plain of Mount Ashur.
