Meeting of the General Assembly of the West Asian Association

The Sultanate, represented by the Omani Paralympic Committee, hosted the Fifth Electoral Assembly of the West Asian Paralympic Federation for the year 2018 in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports Affairs during the period from 13 to 14 September 2018, with the participation of 12 Arab countries and in the presence of Majid Al Osaimi, President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, and Abdul Razzaq bin Bashir, President of the Federation For West Asia and the heads of the participating Paralympic federations, at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in the Governorate of Dhofar.
The Sultanate was represented in the meeting by Dr. Mansour bin Rashid Al-Touqi, Chairman of the Oman Paralympic Committee, and Adnan Al-Owaidi, member of the Committee.

The opening ceremony of the meeting included the speech of the President of the West Asian Paralympic Federation, the speech of the President of the Omani Paralympic Committee, the President of the Asian Paralympic Federation, the appointment of observers for the meeting, the adoption of the agenda, the ratification of the minutes of the previous meeting of the Assembly, and the voting operations for the elections of a number of members of the Federation’s Board of Directors for the West Asia region.

Hosting the meeting came with the blessing of the Ministry of Sports Affairs, which supports the committee, and the Diwan of Royal Court by hosting the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment for the work of the meeting, which aims to make the Sultanate and the city of Salalah friendly to the disabled and try to shed light on the sport of the disabled and draw the attention of the community to its importance, and to highlight The Sultanate’s role in paying attention to the sport of people with disabilities and reviewing the achievements made in this aspect.

This meeting also aims to promote conference and meeting tourism and promote the Governorate of Dhofar as a tourist destination.

The Sultanate hosts the Preparatory Committee for the Fifth General Assembly of the West Asian Federation

The Sultanate, represented by the Oman Paralympic Committee, hosted the Preparatory Committee for the Fifth General Assembly of the Federation of West Asia, with a delegation consisting of
Dr. Abdul Razzaq Bani Rashid, President of the Paralympic Federation for West Asia, Dr. Misbah Jaafar, Secretary General of the Federation, and Tamer Gouda, Executive Secretary.

The delegation was briefed on the facilities and facilities of the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, the headquarters of the meeting scheduled for 12-14 September 2018, which will witness the elections of the General Assembly

The delegation was received by Dr. Mansour Al-Tawqi, Chairman of the Omani Paralympic Committee and Director General of the Sultan Qaboos Complex, where a joint meeting was held to discuss the hosting mechanism, the success of the meeting, and the provision of its organizational and logistical requirements

The visit comes within the framework of preparations for holding the General Assembly of the Paralympic Federation for West Asia.
