International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2017
Her Highness Sayyida Hojeija Jaffer Al Said patronizes the celebration of the Oman Paralympic Committee and the Gulf College on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Under the patronage of Her Highness Mrs. Hajija Jaffer Al Said, President of the Association for the Care of Disabled Children, and in the presence of Dr. Taqi Al-Abdawani, Dean of the College, members and coaches of the Paralympic Committee teams, and players of the Omani national football team, the Omani Paralympic Committee, in cooperation with the Gulf College, celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday morning, December 20 2017 at the Gulf College building with the support of Enhance Company, and with the participation of fourteen government and private agencies in the field of education, higher education, special education and NGOs concerned with the Sultanate with persons with disabilities.
The celebration came under the slogan (towards promoting integration with sports for people with disabilities) in support of this group and help them to be productive and positive individuals because of their great role in the development and development of society in various fields. Helping them achieve those dreams.
Where the attendees had the opportunity to watch and practice many Paralympic sports practiced by people with visual impairment, movement and cerebral palsy, including chair basketball, football for the blind, athletics, goal ball for the blind and boccia, in addition to the use of the athletics bag for children.
Among the interesting paragraphs, the players of the Sultanate’s national team were invited to a unique experience of its kind in the Sultanate, which is the football game for the blind, where they were given the opportunity to learn about the game and the ability of people with visual disabilities to play football. Paralympics at the local and international levels.
The events concluded with the holding of the closing ceremony, which included the college’s speech, the Omani Paralympic Committee’s speech, the visual presentation of the committee’s activities and achievements, introducing the sport of football for the blind, and presenting a play for Gulf Deaf students that reviewed the issue of how to communicate with various people with disabilities. The ceremony concluded with honoring the participating parties and players by the sponsor of the ceremony.
