The Omani Paralympic Committee held the third meeting of the committee’s family on 7/14/2017, during which the champions of the national team for people with disabilities and the technical staff participating in the 15th Summer Paralympic Games and the Tunis International Forum for Athletics for People with Disabilities were honored, ranked among the nine major prizes (Grand Prize International Committee International Paralympic Games for Paralympic athletes) and honoring the wheelchair basketball player and the blind goal ball team.
The honoring ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Talal bin Saeed Al Maamari, CEO of Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel), in the presence of Dr. Mansour bin Sultan Al Touqi, Chairman of the Oman Paralympic Committee, members of the committee, honorees and their families, at the new Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Hay Al Irfan.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Mansour bin Sultan Al-Touqi, Chairman of the Oman Paralympic Committee, gave a speech in which he stressed the committee’s keenness to promote and motivate accomplished players after the good results achieved by players in foreign tournaments, adding that these achievements came after the great support that the Committee received from the Ministry of Social Affairs Sports and from companies and private institutions that support the activities and programs of the Committee.
After that, Muhammad bin Abdullah Al Hinai, the Committee’s Rapporteur, reviewed the most prominent achievements of the Omani Paralympic Committee during the period from January to June 2017, which were divided into achievements at the local level and at the level of external participation, in addition to the Committee’s efforts in the field of awareness and other administrative aspects in the field of administrative organization and the field of improving the environment Training and in the field of local events and activities, external participation and training of trainers, in addition to the most important development projects, including the preparation of a project of cooperation with the Obhur Oman Company to create a “sailing sport for the disabled and the completion of legal procedures for contracting with the Towell Group in the scope of social responsibility and participation in the “agitos foundation” programs for the development of disabled sports, Turning to success partners and supporters.
Then it was announced the launch of the football project for the blind, in partnership between the Omani Paralympic Committee and the Mashkor program of the Towell Group, and the review of the committee’s general plan for 2017, which included a number of activities that the committee will implement and participate in at the local and global levels.
